Make the step from GCSE to A Level manageable
A Level Computer Science asks you to connect ideas and justify choices, not just recognise definitions. A topic such as data structures can involve implementation, efficiency and selecting a suitable approach for a problem. Lessons give you space to work through those connections and ask questions that a fast-paced class may leave unresolved.
Share whether you are taking AS, the full A Level or resitting particular components. Your board, syllabus code, exam year and programming language help us confirm a suitable match. Cambridge, AQA and OCR have different assessment requirements; the lesson plan follows your qualification rather than a generic A Level checklist.
Algorithms and programming with reasoning at every step
We can start with a traced example, move to an implementation and then discuss how to test it or compare another approach. The aim is to make your decisions explainable: why a structure fits a task, what a loop maintains and how you know the result is correct.
- Programming fundamentals and more advanced problem solving at your current level.
- Data structures and algorithms, including tracing and efficiency where required.
- Computer organisation, networks and operating systems according to your syllabus.
- Exam-style explanations that connect technical detail to the question’s context.
Revision and independent project support
Bring a recent answer, a programming exercise or a topic list to help identify the highest-value next step. Revision can alternate between conceptual work and practice questions, with feedback on the parts that need more precise reasoning. If the exam is close, we discuss what can realistically be covered in the time available.
If your qualification includes a programming project or non-exam assessment, support must respect your school’s and exam board’s rules. We can explain concepts and practise comparable skills where permitted. We do not write, rewrite or submit assessed work for you, and your project decisions and final work must remain your own.
How your online lessons work
Start with a free introductory lesson to meet Hasan Zeyn, explain what is difficult and discuss your goals. Share your exam board, syllabus code, exam year and a recent piece of work if you have one. That helps us check the qualification match and choose a sensible starting point, rather than assume every student needs the same revision plan.
In paid lessons, explanations are followed by active practice: writing code, tracing algorithms or answering a question together. We look at why an answer works, how to check it and what to practise next. Your tutor can adjust the pace when a prerequisite is missing or move on when you can explain the idea independently.
Lesson times and the online platform are agreed after your enquiry. A computer, reliable internet connection and a way to share your work are useful for programming lessons. Rates, lesson arrangements and any recordings or extra materials are discussed before paid lessons begin. The introductory lesson requires no payment details or commitment.
Meet your Computer Science tutor
Hasan Zeyn is FindTutor’s founding tutor and a Computer Science undergraduate. His teaching covers school-level programming and university computing, with Python, C and C++ among his areas of support. Read his tutor introduction and student feedback, then use the free lesson to check whether his approach suits you.
Progress depends on your starting point, practice and time available. Tutoring supports your learning; it does not guarantee a particular grade, provide exam entry or replace your school’s assessment rules. Independent work and assessed projects must remain your own.
Check your official qualification
Use your exam board’s specification for the year you sit the exam. Topic coverage, permitted notation and assessment arrangements can change. These official pages are reference sources, not endorsements of FindTutor.
Questions about online a level computer science tutor
Can I book support for AS rather than the full A Level?
Yes. Include AS, your board and syllabus code in the enquiry. The plan can focus on the components and topics you are currently taking.
Can you complete my programming project?
No. Any assessed project must remain your own work and follow your school’s rules. Ask about concept explanations and comparable practice tasks, not completion of your submitted assessment.
What if my university computing course needs help too?
FindTutor also offers university computing support. Use the main enquiry form and share your course outline, language and assessment requirements so availability and scope can be confirmed.
